USB parallel/serial converter
- Used for magnetic card stripe reader
- Convertor contains Moschip MCS7715 driver
- Need to install drivers for windows
- Linux works by default
- Check for COM port number
- Windows: Control panel / device manager / Ports / USBx
- Linux: dmesg
Magnetic stripe reader
- Connect it through USB converter
- Windows: Use PuTTY, serial 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, none parity
- Linux: Use minicom with /dev/ttyUSBx, run “minicom -o” (to avoid modem setup), set 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, parity none
- Swipe a card through reader - you should see read data in plain
Fingerprint reader
- We have CROSS MATCH VERIFIER 300 LC 2.0.
- Drivers: This page helped, driver can still be found in the legacy USB SDK on company webpage. This also downloads the sample application. The install file is also available at CRoCS storage server (/crocs/Software).

Passport reader
- The Golden Reader tool by BSI works (though is old), zip in CRoCS storage.
- The old reader requires drivers for HID® OMNIKEY® 55×3-CL PC/SC (company webpage with driver, also in CRoCS storage).
Microsoft fingerprint readers

- Getting them functioning is rather tricky…
- An unofficial guide along with necessary drivers and software can be found in zip on syn (lab's fileserver)
Computer pheripherals
